BLUMENTHAL TO TOUR PERRIQUEST™ IN MERIDEN TO DISCUSS NEW TECHNOLOGY TO PROTECT PILOTS AGAINST LASER STRIKES

(Hartford, CT) – At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will tour Perriquest™ in Meriden to discuss new technology being developed there to protect pilots against dangerous laser strikes to cockpits, an increasingly common and dangerous threat.

Even toy lasers shined into the sky can temporarily blind pilots and damage the eye. Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration reported 3,894 cases of lasers shined at aircraft. There were 2,751 cases reported as of July this year.
